Description:The front of the book has an inscription by Lin Xiantang (Guanyuan): “A Ray of Light,” as well as prefaces by Huang Chunqing and Huang Shuipei and an author’s preface by Huang Hongyan himself. The book is arranged according to the administrative districts in which the authors resided, all tolled there are six divisions from north to south numbering over 3,000 poems by over 400 Taiwan poets. In addition there are works of Chinese and Japanese poets who have spent time in Taiwan under the rubric “Footprints of Swans” and those of deceased Taiwan poets under the “Penglai Poetry Collection.” The poets covered here represent just about all those who wrote classical Chinese poetry during the Japanese Occupation Period, and the material is of great research value. In contrast to “jibo” poetry focusing on a kind of athletic competition, popular during the Japanese Occupation Period, the poems recorded in this collection are mostly lyric “leisure poems” the express aspirations or feelings. In his “Preface” Huang Chunqing says, “This anthology edited by Mr. Huang Kexuan [i.e., Hongyan] contains a great number of excellent poems, not a few worthy of being passed on, poems that cannot be put in the same category as jibo poetry.”

其他說明:"書前有林獻堂（灌園）題字「一線光明」，以及黃純青、黃水沛序文、黃洪炎自序。本書依詩人居所之行政區編排，由北而南，共分六類，收錄全台四百多家詩人詩作約三千多首，另以「雪泥鴻爪」輯錄在台之中國與日本詩人作品，以「蓬萊詩存」收錄過世的台灣詩人作品，所收詩家幾乎涵蓋日治時期所有漢語古典詩人，具研究價值。有別於日治時期盛行的「擊缽吟」之流於競技、鬥捷，本詩集所選錄詩作多為言志抒情之「閒詠」，黃純青於「序」中即言：「今黃君可軒所編瀛海詩集，佳作甚多，可傳之詩亦不尠，未容與擊缽吟詩同觀也」。
