Description:Picture of a Windy City is not only a rare work of essays by Zhang Shuhan from her writing career, it is also firsthand material from a Taiwan woman writer bearing witness to postwar Taiwan. Her writing on Taiwan tends toward the “utopian” narrative angle. Under her pen it is for the most part the beautiful, tranquil side of life that is portrayed. This type of localized writing was considered a breakthrough of the bottleneck of men’s political/literary writing of that period, opening up a different perspective.

其他說明:《風城畫》不僅是張漱菡創作生涯中少見的散文作品，也是戰後來台女作家見證台灣土地的第一手資料。其對台灣的書寫，偏好採取「世外桃源」的敘述視角；台灣在她筆下，多半呈顯優美恬靜的氛圍。此種帶有在地化色彩的書寫，使得這部作品被認為突破了當時男性政治文學窒礙的瓶頸，開創出迥異的台灣視域。
