摘要:岡田謙〈民俗について〉界定「民俗」一詞所代表的意義，並藉此闡述《民俗臺灣》雜誌的目的；陳紹馨〈小說「陳夫人」に現れたる臺灣民俗〉探討小說《陳夫人》中所呈現的臺灣民俗，以及小說中關於臺灣與日本的交流問題；立石鐵臣〈打綿布〉記述打綿布所使用器材的外形，以及打綿布的過程。（文/練麗敏）

其他說明:《民俗台灣》為日治時期戰爭中後期的期刊，1941年10月創刊，1945年1月停刊，由東都書籍株式發行。此期刊是撰述台灣庶民文化的刊物，內容有民情、風俗、民藝、文學、歌謠、諺語、宗教、信仰以及鄉土美食、民間草藥等，凡有關日常生活的點滴無所不載。行刊之際，正逢日本政府在殖民地推動皇民化政策，而本書之宗旨，恰與政策牴觸，曾一時遭查禁與停刊的命運，幸得發行人金關丈夫出面交涉，得以保住繼續發行。它是一部記錄台灣島人的生活史，當今成為一部重要的文化資產。先後由武陵及南天兩家出版社復刻出版，其中以南天版最為完整。民俗台灣作者包括台灣作家楊雲萍、吳新榮、楊逵、郭水潭、廖漢臣等人，日人作家有國分直一、金關丈夫、池田敏雄、宮本延人等。台灣作家葉石濤則認為這是一份「與台灣總督府的皇民化運動唱反調的」刊物。

Description:Folklore Taiwan was a periodical of the late wartime Japanese Occupation Period. It began publication in October 1941 and ceased publication in January 1945 and was published by Tōto Shoseki. This periodical was a publication about Taiwan popular culture and included articles on popular attitudes, customs, folk art, literature, ballads, proverbs, religion, beliefs, as well as local cuisine and folk medicine—anything at all about life experience was grist for the mill. Its publication occurred just at the time the Japanese government was pushing the Japanization (kōminka) policy in its colonies, and the periodical’s guiding principle was in conflict with this policy. It was banned and ceased publication for a time but fortunately the publisher Takeo Kanaseki stepped in to negotiate and was able to guarantee the periodical’s continued publication.
The periodical constitutes a history of the life the Taiwan people and today has become an important cultural property. It was published by Woolin and SMC Publishing Houses, the SMC publication being the most complete. Contributors to Folklore Taiwan included Taiwan writers Yang Yunping, Wu Xinrong, Yang Kui, Guo Shuitan, and Liao Hanchen as well as Japanese writers Kokubun Naokazu, Kanaseki Takeo, Ikeda Toshio, Miyamoto Nobejin. Taiwan writer Ye Shitao has said this was a publication that “sang a different tune from that of the Taiwan Governor-General’s Japanization movement.”
