其他說明:有著「全方位型」作家之稱的林鍾隆是台灣文學家中少數在日治時期即投入兒童文學的創作,並在1945終戰之後,迅速克服語言及書寫障礙,延續其小說、新詩及兒童文學的創作。此篇文章,從「要給兒童什麼?」出發,林鍾隆歸納了過去到現在作家創作的幾個方向及內容,認為「嚴肅」與過度的「教」義,降低了兒童學習的興趣,提出了應該要以「兒童本位」為出發點的基本角度,分析如何藉由閱讀童話,讓兒童在不知不覺中由懵懂到覺得有趣,並且強調,傳遞學習的樂趣比硬式的教育來得重要許多。

Description:Lin Zhonglong, known as an “all-around” writer, was one of the few Taiwan writers during the Japanese colonial period who devoted himself to children’s literature. In 1945 following the end of the War, he quickly overcame linguistic obstacles in speaking and writing to continue his fiction, new poetry, and children’s literature writing. This essay starts out by asking the question “What should fairytales tell children?” Lin gives a run-down of the orientation and content of what authors had theretofore written for children and concluded that “serious” and overly “educational” material dampened their interest in learning. He proposed the idea that writers should start from the basic “child’s standpoint” and analyze how, through the reading of fairytales, one could have the children unconsciously move from muddled confusion to a sense of real interest. He also stressed that passing on the joys of learning was far more important than a rigid “education” approach.
