Introduction:"The Returnee Party of Cebu Chinese Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines for Rewarding the Service" presented this solid gold shield plate on October 31, 1963. The central top of the plate is inscribed with the ROC national emblem centered with the inscription of "May Your Life Be as Long as the Heaven and Earth, and Your Accomplishments as bright as the Sun and the Moon," a dedication "To President Chiang," and the lower part, "The Returnee Party of Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Cebu, the Philippines."
Cebu, located in the Central Visayas, consists of the main island itself and 167 surrounding islands and islets. The meaning the name is "When first fine dawn presents in the sky, silk-like clouds will always follow it to come." Cebu is the Philippines' premier international connection channel, and its capital of state government, Cebu City, is famously known as "The Queen of the South." There are more than one million Chinese in the Philippines, accounting for over 10% of the population, and almost all are Chinese descents from Fujian. They are mostly living in large cities, such as Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Because most of Chinese are engaged in commercial business and take care of each other, the "Chinese Chamber of Commerce has become one of the most powerful of the four local foreign chambers of commerce.
