Stone for Flying the Hump

Size:Length:30 x Width:55 x Height:68 (cm)

Introduction:China-Burma-India Hump Pilots Association presented the Stone of Flying the Hump on the Centenary of President Chiang Kai-shek. During World War II, the pilots of USAAF(United States Army Air Forces) flew military transport aircrafts from India and Burma, over the Himalayas, to Kunming to resupply allied forces based in China and the Republic of China Armed Forces, and at that time, the airlift was called "Hump Express." Flying over the Himalayas was extremely dangerous and easy to lose directions. When the pilots saw the glittering stones on the Mount Dali, Yunnan, they made a turn and by following up the clue, flew the aircrafts southeastward.
