Introduction:The Shorts Album is a photographic collection created as local teaching materials, as commissioned by the Miaoli County government. The subjects photographed are mostly farmers, known in the Hakka language as 'men in sweat shorts.' These images portray the hardships of farmers busy with farming, harvesting, and sowing. They demonstrate the contentment and frugality of the 'sweat shorts' spirit. This series captures the lifestyle of early Taiwanese rural residents, children playing, and the tough work of farming. In The Shorts Album (Two) 96, the background is set in a corner of a temple in a small town, with a pair of divining blocks placed on a table in the foreground. The blocks represent the approval of the gods for the actions of the faithful. In the middle of the scene, the lamp casts a faint but hopeful light.
