Introduction:In 2004, Chou Shin-Chiuan traveled to Zhejiang Province, China, and captured the local culture and customs. His humanistic documentary photography emphasizes the connection between people and the environment, resulting in snapshots of ordinary lives closely related to the historical background of the time.

Conspiracy was taken during a Lunar New Year temple fair in Zhejiang. The photo depicts two hunchbacked elders sitting on a bench in the warm winter sun, their shadows resembling two conspirators secretly discussing a great plan. Originally shot on color film, the work was later printed in black and white to highlight the visual elements of the characters, incense, light, and the dramatic effect derived from the shadows.
