Introduction:Lee Ming-tiao viewed photography as his lifelong career. Not only did he succeed in running the business of photographic equipment, he also created prolific art works, leaving many precious documentary photographs in the early days after the Retrocession. In addition, he spared no effort in the promotion of photography. In 1951, he founded the Taiwan Camera Monthly. Unfortunately, only three issues were released due to realistic issues, but the magazine cast a profound impact on the photography circle in Taiwan at that time. He shared his photographic knowledge in monthly magazines by writing technical articles such as "On Daylight," "On Exposure Index of Films," and "On Approaching Lens." He also published works by other photographers such as Chang Tsai, Long Chin-san, and Lin Shou-yi. The cover of all three issues were his own female portraits which indicates his confidence in photographing human figures.
The Nude shows the whole body of a naked woman in a kneeling position at the center of the image. His artistic expression is very classical while the balanced, earnest composition is presented as a triangle formed by the body. The light shines on the woman from the upper left, forming bright parts on the shoulders and chest. The legs and arms are relatively dark, but the overall style is still soft. This motionless portrait fully shows a gentle female posture, marking the photographer's early practice of body expression.
