Introduction：This is a coastal landscape by Lo Huei-ming. From the title of the piece, Fishing at Longdong , we can surmise it is a coastal scene of the area around Ruifang and Gongliao in Taipei County (now New Taipei City). The peculiar topography of the majestic rocky shore, together with the stretching headland, are common scenes along Taiwan's northeast coast. This work focuses on the figures who stand on the coastal rocks, fishing and facing the might of the ocean. One squats down preparing his bait and fishing line, while others concentrate on holding tightly their rods and fishing among the surging waves, which makes viewers feel nervous. The imposing headland becomes increasingly indistinct and fades away as it stretches into the distance. The distant, simple and silhouette-like shapes contrast with the rocks in the foreground, which can be seen as the artist's unique interpretation of the northeast coastal topography. It is also the method which he uses to focus on the anglers.
