Introduction:This is an oil landscape by Chang Ping-nan depicts a morning in Tamsui. The town of Tamsui in the foreground is delineated with various colors and fine brushwork. The church architecture on the right is the second generation of the Tamsui Church, and the low-rise houses with earthencolor roofs and white walls on the left are probably the Huwei Mackay Hospital built by the Canadian Presbyterian Church missionary, George Leslie Mackay. On the downhill road on the left are two pedestrians, and the environment is surrounded by verdant trees, flowers and plants. In the far distance on the left is a two-story red Western-style house submerged behind the trees. Judging from its appearance, it is Tamsui's Red Castle (also known as Daguanlo [達觀樓]). The yellow twilight bounces on the surface of the Tamsui River in the distance, and some boats are moored or sailing between the shoals. At the foot of Guanyin Mountain in the farther distance is the small town of Bali delineated with different shades of gray, which mirrors the town of Tamsui in the foreground, co-constructing a poetically picturesque riverside scenery.
