Introduction：Nutritious Pork Vendor is composed of ready-made objects such as a wooden table, iron hooks, and canvas, along with painted replicas of fresh pork. Together, these elements create a hyper-realistic rendition of traditional pork stall. The artist uses bold colors and vigorous brushstrokes to capture the texture of raw meat, balancing hyper-realism with his distinct painterly style. This work originates from Tang Tang-fa’s Market Vendors Plan, which began in 2014. In this project, Tang rented market stalls and displayed painted replicas of fresh produce, inviting the public to view and engage with the pieces. His aim was to realize the concept of “bringing art into everyday life,” blurring the lines between art and common culture. Created in 2022, this new work is a continuation of this project, further developing Tang’s unique “vendor aesthetics.”
Author Introduction：「Tang Tang-fa」-Born in New Taipei City, Taiwan, Tang graduated from Chinese Culture University and earned a master’s degree from Tainan National University of the Arts. A member of Shin Leh Yuan and Hantoo Art Group, his early work focused on everyday objects and personal memories, using images and found objects. Since 2009, he has shifted to handcrafted sculptures simulating daily items, exploring local aesthetics.
