Introduction:Everyday Maneuver was filmed during a half-hour period, from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., during a 2017 military drill. Utilizing five drones, the footage captures five major roads in Taipei City from a slightly aerial, straight-on perspective. The vantage point feels like a watchful surveillance of the entire city. The bustling and vibrant city of Taipei transforms into a deserted, carless ghost town the moment the air raid sirens sound. This surreal urban spectacle stems from Taiwan’s routine military drills, highlighting the underlying presence of war in everyday life. The nearly six-minute film, shot with aerial footage and steady, continuous camera movement, captures the vast and thriving urban space. As time progresses, the film evokes an escalating sense of unease and shock.
