Introduction:Hanging on the wall are feathers of rare birds and strange animals conquered and collected by humans. Approaching observers will trigger a sensor-driven mechanism to stir the feathers—a delicate undulation that seems to echo a memory of flight inherent in their very fibers. Huang Zan-lun’s core artistic inquiry focuses on the hybridization of biology and machinery. His work invites us to explore the connection between organic and non-organic entities and between nature and technology, as well as the possible ways to cross the dichotomy between them, thus pondering further the essence of life and existence. In the contemporary era when technology advances rapidly and has become an indispensable part of life and even our bodies, does it also challenge and renew our understanding and perception of the self?
