Introduction:Observing the forefront of the composition, the inscription "Wanshou Bridge" is visible on the bridge at the left side of the scene, identifying Lin Wen-chang's depiction of Lane 5, Minzu Street in Sanxia. This bridge, which once spanned over the Sanxia River, has since been reconstructed. From the positioning of landmarks, it is presumed that the artist composed this piece from the bridge's northern side, gazing into the heart of Sanxia's old street. The lower left of the image shows the Wanshou Bridge with a path alongside the riverbank trees, leading through the back alleys to the old street depicted in the middle ground, characterized by its uneven high and low red-brick buildings. Lin Wen-chang skillfully exploits the transparent and light qualities of watercolor, depicting intricate light and shadow interplay on the buildings and ground caused by sunlight through layered painting techniques. The distant background is shrouded by mountains, where the light green hillside woods contrast with the red-brick houses on the old street. Considering the vantage point, it is likely that the guarding mountain is Yuanshan, which stands sentinel over the old street of Sanxia.
