Size description:39.3×53.7cm

Introduction:This is a watercolor landscape by Lo Huei-ming. According to the inscription on the work, the building depicted is the Taipei County Athletic Stadium (now Banqiao Stadium), and the stainless-steel sculpture in the center of the image was personally designed by Lo, then director of Fu Jen Catholic University’s Department of Applied Arts (the sculpture has been dismantled). The composition forms a stable triangle with the endpoints of the stadium’s sides and the sculpture’s pinnacle, highlighting the sculpture’s grandeur. Lo adopts a palette of blues and whites to capture the newly completed building’s pristine, radiant visage, with the sculpture’s metallic surface reflecting the blue sky and white clouds, thus resonating with the title “Soaring to the Heavens.” The signature “Painted and inscribed by Huei-ming in the tenth month of the year Dingmao (丁卯, 1987)” and a “Lo” character seal imprint in the Zhu Wen style (red characters on white background) are placed at the lower left corner of the painting.
