    • GDESC:保育等級：International Union for Conservation of Nature紅皮書中屬低危物種(Least Concern)類別。

      型態：為臺灣特有亞種。又名「筆貓」、「羌仔貓」、「九節貓」。身體極為細長，吻部尖狹，乍看之下很像狐狸。尾巴有黑白相間的環節，其中白色環節的寬度稍大於黑色部分，從體側看時，胸腹部為黃褐色，佈滿黑褐色的不規則斑點。

      生態：從低海拔一直分佈到中、高海拔的山地。喜待在茂密的灌木、蕨類或草叢深處活動，具有十分隱祕的個性。為夜行動物，通常於日沒以後出外覓食。主要以小型囓齒類為食，如森鼠、巢鼠、家鼷鼠、天鵝絨鼠。

      形質：體重約2~4公斤，體型細長約50公分。

      標本資訊：本標本吻肛長50公分，尾長28公分，以乾燥方式保存。
