Turkeys in Chiayi was completed by this artist in 2002. The subjects are four turkeys, which occupy half of this scene, appearing as if they are in close proximity to viewers. Turkey meat served with rice is a specialty dish of Chiayi. Thus, in this county turkeys are an indispensable part of farming communities. This artist paid much attention to depicting the textures of the turkey feathers and to presenting the vitality of this farming community.
This artist made use of a palette knife to create rough strokes and to interweave and layer warm and cool hues, as well as develop strong textures and diverse colors. This is a unique method for capturing light, shadow and warmth.
