Admiring the Cherry Blossoms

Liu Yu-Hsueh(1951)

Ink Painting

2002

Length:51.5 x Width:70 (cm)

Although cherry blossom season is short, it is breathtaking. Backlighting techniques were used to highlight the white blossoms, which decorate the hillside. The trees are so close together and so full of blossoms that it would be difficult for a bird to fly through.
This painting, Admiring the Cherry Blossoms, breaks through the convention of depicting single branches of cherry trees with blossoms. It is not an artificial or manipulated depiction, but rather a presentation of the vitality of nature and its beauty.
