Bamboo Forest House

Ran In-Ting(1903-1979)

Watercolor

1967

Length:58 x Width:78 (cm)

Ran completed Bamboo Forest House at the age of 64, and it was one of the representative works of this internationally renown watercolor painter. In the foreground and background are two bamboo panel bridges, once common in Taiwan's farming villages. These bridges made it convenient for people to cross the river to work. This watercolor painting fully reveals the simple lifestyle and interesting infrastructure of early Yilan County. In addition, this painting not only incorporates English-style transparent watercolor techniques, but also Ran's unique use of Eastern ink painting elements.
