In this painting, Tabletop Still Life, through highly saturated colors the dim background sets off the flowers and food on the table. A fish, a red bigeye, is presented on a white plate, its eyes no longer bright. The yellow chrysanthemums appear to be close to bursting into bloom. From the overlapping brushstrokes, viewers experience the determination and pursuit of meaning in every brushstroke of this artist, who is now more than 70 years old.
