In 1913, the Hsinchu Train Station underwent renovation. It features a combination of Baroque and Gothic architectural elements. Its exterior boasts Gothic-style sawtooth-shaped gables, short columns and window arches. The sloped roof is divided into two sections. Its helmet-shaped clock tower is one of its most striking features.
This is a mature work by this artist who has spent a long period time recording and portraying Taiwan's historic train stations. The sky in the background looks like it is comprised of magnetic color cubes, as pink, blue and white interweave, creating a tapestry-like effect. The subject of this painting is the Hsinchu Train Station, especially its historical and architectural features. In the left corner, the artist has depicted commemorative stamps from this station, enhancing the nostalgia of this work, as well as creating a travel record.
Lee likes to ride the slow trains and feel the emotions of each stop, coming close to and listening intently to the land. This artist also possesses the characteristics of a traveler. He reminds himself that to bring history to life, it is essential to experience historical places. By walking through a time tunnel, he follows in the footsteps of those who came before him.
