Wang Chien-Bih (1962-)
Oil Painting
1995
Length:14.5 x Width:18 (cm)
This artist had just returned to Taiwan the previous year, after finishing her studies in Spain. She was invited to participate in a joint exhibition at the gallery of the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in May. The focus is on the short and wide pitcher in the middle. On the right are red and yellow fruits. On the left are translucent white conch shell and bunch of grapes. This rich combination of objects forms a stable pyramid-like composition. The light source from in front serves to reduce heaviness, pointing to the genius of this artist in the construction of this scene.
This artist's works are both classic and exquisite. Her depictions of flowers and plants are sophisticated with harmonious use of colors throughout, preserving their warmth and elegance.
