Chen has a deep love of Taiwan. In 2000, this artist proposed a "Yushan as sacred mountain" cultural revival movement, and in 2001 organized a traveling exhibition based on the theme of "Yushan as sacred mountain, love and peace". Yushan is also known as Jade Mountain, and is the highest peak in Taiwan and all of Northeast Asia. Ath the age of 65, this artist completed this portrayal of the zigzagging ridge of Yushan, as it seems to pierce the cloud layer above. As the sun rises, the early morning light shines on the summit of Yushan and the sea of clouds. The colors are bright and dazzling. In the foreground are alpine rhododendrons, suggesting that spring has arrived. Chen made use of overlapping brushstrokes to provide a rich mix of colors. In the center is Taiwan's sacred mountain - Yushan. This mountain is a symbol of Taiwan's cultural diversity.
