Oil Painting

In the first two-thirds of this painting, Spring in the Suburbs, are luxuriant growths of yellow chrysanthemums and lavender. In the middle ground, the surface of the lake reflects the trees and hills in the distance. Due to the use of blue and purple hues, viewers can almost feel the cool breeze of the early spring morning. The exuberant vitality associated with the wakening of spring can be observed in the flowers, trees and other vegetation. This work highlights the beauty of spring.
Han was influenced by Surrealism. He focused on portraying the nature of objects in his art works and exploring the variations in colors, light and shadows from the use of different materials. He had exquisite sketching abilities and a keen sense of observation, which he used to create works in his own unique style.
