Taiwanese painters view Yushan (Jade Mountain) as Taiwan's sacred mountain. This painting, Yushan Bathed in Golden Light, contains this meaning. The cross-shaped composition presents Yushan as a pyramid that reaches to the sky. In the center of the scene, the strong, overlapping Yushan Peaks are shrouded in cloud and mist, bringing a dynamic feel to this otherwise tranquil scene.
Art critic Tao Wen-Yueh once said that, "Liu Yang-Che's prints feature rich color layers, presenting an Eastern-style spirit and charm. In his oil paintings, he emphasizes texture with layer upon layer of oil paint, creating a look that is highly intriguing."
