Zhishanyan Temple

Tsai In-Tang(1909-1998)

Oil Painting

1974

Length:37.5 x Width:45 (cm)

In this painting is depicted the Zhishanyan Temple, which is devoted to the worship of a Tang dynasty general known as Sacred Prince, Developer of Zhangzhou (Kai Zhang Sheng Wang); Wenchang Dijun (god of culture and literature); and Guanyin (goddess of mercy). This artist made use of quick and unreserved brushstrokes and bright colors to express the awakening of spring in the temple's courtyard and the freshness following a storm.
