It depicts an indigenous artisan of Taian Township in Miaoli County. In the background are wood carvings of indigenous motifs. Outside the window are verdant mountains and blue sky. She is seen spinning thread. Her tattooed face is beautiful and elegant. Her hands, thick and strong, work proficiently to perform this task. The artist depicted the patterns and motifs on her clothing and headdress in great detail. The colors are brilliant and fresh, as well as somewhat simple. This work symbolizes the knowledge and passing on of traditional indigenous handicrafts.
Lee loved nature. He was always conscientious in his portrayals of the unique scenes of Taiwan. Lee's pure and natural art revealed his deep and earnest affection for this land. From the clothing worn by this young woman, as well as the tattoos on her face and the wood carving in the background, this is a highly authentic portrayal. The sunlight brushes across her cheeks and spreads across her white clothing. There is a halo-like quality to the light that is very intriguing.
