Length:60.5 x Width:72.5 (cm)
There are three clear horizontal crest lines. In the near distance is sienna-colored mountain covered in patches of snow. The forest and hiking cottage are indistinct. In the middle distance, strong and powerful strokes were made using a palette knife to create the thick and heavy mountains. In the distance is Yushan (Jade Mountain) Main Peak, emerging from the snow and fog. There is the interweaving of blue and white. To the right of the main peak are icy cold drafts with drifting snow between the sky and the mountains.
This snow scene is part of Lu's towering mountain series. It features succinct brushstrokes and cool colors in the depiction of a snowy spring day on Yushan (Jade Mountain). Viewers of this painting almost feel as if they are there. At the same time, it reveals the cold and majestic views of Yushan Main Peak in the Central Mountain Range. This scene following a snowstorm produces a sense of power. The composition is lively and the layout concise. The colors are composed in blocks. The overall effect is smooth and fluid. Especially in the areas where a palette knife was used it is as if fresh, cold air is passing through.
