Dialogue Between Two Birds
The sunshine on a spring morning drives
away the cold of winter. Two egrets seem
to be carrying out a dialogue, as they
welcome the new day.
Sunshine on Mountains and River
Arc-shaped sunlight warms the earth.
Among the solid and strong mountains, a
river gradually flows.
Lighthouse
Waves lap against the island shore in a
rhythmic dance, as the light from the
lighthouse guides returning fishing boats.
Old Western-Style Building, New Elegance
Blue hues are the calls of the ocean and
wind. Yellow hues represent the scents of
sunshine and the land. Lines are the
melody of the esthetics of the Baroque-
style elements that decorate this
Western-style building on Kinmen.
Art historian Pai Hsueh-Lan once said that, "Su Jen-Ming purposefully presents landscapes through a convex lens. In his paintings, the horizon is often arc-shaped and the natural scenery appears as an expectant mother." In this series of landscape paintings, the artist used charcoal pencil to quickly create the scenes in freehand style with fluid colors to present the island rhythms. Through arc-shaped margins he celebrates island life.
