Chang with his keen sense of observation and skilled brushwork depicted the exterior of this temple. He made use of blue and white and yellow and red color blocks. This painting, White-walled Temple, is very vivid. Under his brush, traditional temple structures became bright and animated, but still retained the benevolence and solemnity associated with folk religious beliefs.
