In Nihonga paintings, a type of glue is mixed with natural mineral powder pigments and blended with water. Paint brushes are used to create works on paper, silk or wood. This form of painting was introduced to Taiwan from Japan during the Japanese occupation era, and thus was referred to as Japanese painting. The focus of this painting, Stunning Arrangement, is on the blossoms placed inside a porcelain vase. His signature is an esthetic footnote.
Kuo was the earliest painter to use Taiwan's folk customs and folklore as subjects of his paintings, revealing his deep attachment to this land.
