Jinbaoli is the former name of Jinshan District of New Taipei City. On weekends and holidays, Jinshan Old Street is packed with tourists. They come here to sample the local foods and snacks. This is also a very popular hot springs street with a flourishing market area. Temple lanterns hang along one side enhancing the festive atmosphere. There are also brightly colored beach umbrellas. Behind the buildings along this old street, it is possible to see the eaves of a temple. The noise and hospitality of this marketplace are irreplaceable memories for long-time residents of Jinbaoli.
This street scene, entitled Jinbaoli, was completed by this artist at the age of 62. In this simple street scene is concealed the warmth of the sunshine on a winter's day. This work brings out a classic scene and human sentiment. It also records the bustling activity and hospitality of a traditional market in Taiwan.
