This morning market is crowded with people wearing wide-brimmed rain hats, which make it difficult to see their faces. However, it is possible to feel their determination to earn a living. Li made use of the great freehand style and unrestrained brushstrokes, as well as liberal amounts of black ink to portray grassroots scenes of Taiwan. He fused ink painting techniques with Taiwanese culture. Although he was born in China, he was an artist able to depict local sentiment through his ink paintings.
At more than 90 years of age, Li still finding scenes to paint. He wields his brush like a sword, revealing his style and emotion.
