Jiufenzai Coastline was completed by this artist at the age of 47. This view is from Shuilian Cave in Ruifang. It is daytime, but appears dark due to the clouds hanging overhead. The angry sea surges forth in waves that produce spray as they strike the reef rocks. It is almost as if viewers can feel the harsh conditions and force of the waves. The lines of this painting are strong and steady. The vertical cliffs in the far distance and the reef rocks in the near distance correspond to the spray emitted by the waves. From this painting, viewers can experience the strange beauty of the reef rocks along Taiwan's northeastern coast.
Taiwan is an ocean island. Therefore, this artist created this seascape painting, which is also an expression of life esthetics and his affection for this land.
