Lane

Chen Te-Wang (1910-1984)

Oil Painting

1964

Length:45 x Width:60 (cm)

Much attention was paid to the composition and the use of perspective, such that the lane extends outward, disappearing into the distance. The buildings are simplified and form diagonal lines to the right and left, bisecting the scene. There is a concise and interactive relationship among the buildings, trees, bushes and ground. Cool blues and warm oranges are the main color systems, which differ from the actual color of the objects. The colors respond to each other and the brushstrokes are layered, creating emotion.
