In the foreground, an indigenous youth is absorbed in playing the flute. It is a realistic portrayal that carries with it decorative techniques. The clothing worn by this youth features an abundance of patterns. These are accompanied by the brightly colored layers of green of the fruit trees and the blue and green hues of the grass. The bright colors are characteristic of lacquer painting. In the background is a band of white, creating a cross-like composition, which strengthens the visual effect.
