This young woman is shown with her eyelids lowered. From the profile of her face, it appears as if she is in deep thought. Her pose is dignified, bringing to mind a pure and natural flower in bloom. Silent and with her head down, it seems as if she is speaking volumes to herself. The lighting brings out the vitality of her skin and enhances the atmosphere of sweetness and pleasantness.
The subject of Li's Nude is depicted with a light complexion, soft lines and warm and elegant hues. She appears sophisticated and well educated. Li was highly meticulous in his use of colors, and his works were often mistaken as Nihonga. He represented the 1920s style of portrait painting in Taiwan. The woman depicted in this painting is posed in an S shape from head to toe. The shadow in the upper left corner extends the line of sight to the wall in the background. The simply decorated room exudes a feel of tranquility and contentment.
