These lilies are in full bloom, revealing their delicate stamens and fragrance. The unfolded pink petals appear like butterfly wings or swaying skirts. Apples, green jujubes, grapes and oranges, fruits of the four seasons are gifts from the land. These brightly colored, sweet embellishment are set off against the chocolate-colored tabletop. They seem to blend tightly together with the water pitcher. This artist created a rich texture and warm, saturated scene without losing any of the luster or charm of any of the items. Everything appears very lifelike.
This artist is adept at applying the classic method of smearing in a new way to create layers. In this exquisite depiction, the objects seem to have a spirit of their own.
