Hung Jui-Lin (1912-1996)
Ink Painting
1957
Length:36 x Width:48 (cm)
The major difference between this painting and most of his works that portray miners on the job is the mine cart in the center. If you look closely, you will see that in the cramped space of this mine cart there are at least four workers. It goes without saying that the work environment of miners was difficult. The miners in squatting position appear to be at rest. Or perhaps, they are waiting for the next mine cart.
Hung's miner series of works originated from the accumulation of his own life experiences, allowing him to create very natural depictions. Only in this way could he express his emotions using ink and brush, creating works filled with meaning and allowing viewers of these works to sample different life experiences and artistic expressions.
