This painting, Rukai Flowers, is of a young indigenous Rukai woman. She is in a seated position with her hands on her knees. Her formal attire includes headdress, which is decorated with wild boar tusks, and embroidered long shirt. She is also wearing strands of precious glass beads. These and the eagle feathers in her headdress suggest that she is of Rukai nobility. At the age of 53, this artist depicted this young woman's beautiful attire and ornaments in exquisite detail, revealing his respect and admiration for indigenous culture. In the background are indigenous motifs and lilies. The lily is a symbol of purity among Rukai females and according to legend commemorates Princess Baleng.
