Flower Vase

Sheu Keun-Cherng (1946-)

Oil Painting

1990

Length:64.5 x Width:49.5 (cm)

The bright yellow wallpaper sets off the blue and white porcelain vase in which has been placed a beautifully arranged bouquet of lilies, violets and narcissus. Although these flowers are in a vase, there is a feeling of the outdoors. The colors are pure and fresh, completely void of black, creating a forceful style. This painting features the romance and beauty of an Impressionist painting, as well as enchanting colors and variations in light and shadow.
This painting, entitled Flower Vase, features changing light, shadows and colors. Black was not used at all. Completed upon this artist's return to Taiwan from France, it reveals a combination of Neorealism and Impressionism.
