Guandu Bridge Collection Image
Guandu Bridge

Lee Tai Yuan (1949-)

Oil Painting

2000

Length:60.5 x Width:80 (cm)

This artist divided this scene into equal transverse sections. Looking across the river from Guandu, the mountains of Bali appear in the distance. In the foreground, the mangrove forest cannot be differentiated from the riverbank due to backlighting, and extends out to the Tamsui River. In the middle distance, the Guandu Bridge with its red arches spans across the Tamsui River, connecting Guandu and Bali. In the far distance, Guanyin Mountain and the white clouds above it are reflected in the river. The reflections on the water's surface bring a sense of vastness to this painting, which is a record of one of the scenic spots of northern Taiwan.
In this painting, Guandu Bridge, backlighting forms a focal point in which the water and sky appear to be of similar hues. This is one of the most attractive techniques of this painting.
