Gold Jiufen Collection Image
Gold Jiufen

Chang Chuang-Feng(1965-)

Oil Painting

2009

Length:72.5 x Width:91 (cm)

The artist depicts this scene from above. Both the coastline and mountain slopes are included. It is dusk and the rays of the setting sun are masterfully reflected on the waters of the bay with the hillside town of Jiufen bathed in golden hues. The low-lying homes seemingly strewn at random are also depicted in beautiful colors, drawing viewers into a fantasy world. The golden hues are also a metaphor for the destiny of Jiufen. Gold is no longer mined here, but it has been reborn as a tourist destination. However, effort must be made to preserve the beauty of its natural surroundings
In his works, Chang seeks to ponder the relationships between ecological conservation and development. In addition, he has a fondness for re-creating scenes of Taiwan's past. He makes use of creative angles to express his connection with the land and authentic emotion.
