Length:30.5 x Width:45 (cm)
In the foreground, amid the bright green are blue green embellishments. In the middle distance, it is possible to see southern Chinese-style homes and bamboo forest along the riverbank, as well as the ingenious use of white pigment. On the left and right are intersecting areas of thick growth and undulating peaks of differing heights. There is an indication of moisture flow, representing Taiwan's characteristic warm and humid climate. The colors express varying degrees of light and there is clear distinction between subject and object. From this work, it is possible to Lee's control and skill, as well as his solid foundation in painting.
Scenes from his homeland were his usual subjects. He fully represented the hills and riverside scenery of Zhudong using his skills, keen sense of observation and eye for detail. However, in this painting, River and Mountains, is also depicted the green image of Tamsui's Guanyin Mountain in spring and summer, a subject less often seen in Lee's works.
