　　In this painting, Li Mei-Shu captured the sunrise over the beach, the tranquility of the early morning light illuminating the sky and the land. There is gradual shift in colors from white to purplish blue, all the way to the sky, following the gradual rise of the morning sun. All things on earth seem to be waiting in anticipation to inhale the first breath of fresh air. No matter the sea or the rocks along the coast, everything is motionless at this instant, making us catch our breath as we focus on the beauty captured by this artist.
　　Following the end of World War II, there was a change in Li's works from the peaceful and elegant plein-air style to representations of the social environment of that time. His works were intimately integrated with life. They featured strict composition and clear and realistic style, which echoed his devotion to his homeland.
