Lin Tien-Tsung (1924-2001, Lukang, Changhua ) studied under Yeh Huo-Cheng (1908-1993) and Li Shih-Chiao (1908-1995), and was frequently selected for the Taiwan Provincial Educators' Art Exhibition. Lin held numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Taiwan and abroad. He actively participated in various art associations, including the Taichung County Fine Arts Association, Niumatou Painting Society, Northwest Painting Society, National Oil Painting Association, Central Taiwan Art Association, and Southeast Art Society. In addition to his artistic practice, Lin served as a traveling art instructor for the Taiwan Provincial Department of Education, contributing greatly to art education.
Evening Glow in Liouguei depicts a scenic view of Liouguei District in Kaohsiung, likely painted during a sketching trip. The foreground features deep green forested areas and flat yellow-green meadows. A steep cliff rendered in purplish-brown dominates the middle ground, while layered mountain ranges in the distance fade from grayish-purple to bluish-green. A full moon glows softly above the purple sky in the upper right, surrounded by clouds tinged with pink and green. The composition is stable yet dynamic, with a palette that is rich in color—gentle yet never garish. Lin skillfully combines brush and palette knife techniques, applying both thin and thick layers of oil paint to evoke a tranquil yet vibrant nocturnal landscape, bathed in moonlight.
