During his studies, he trained under prominent artists including Ou Hao-Nien (1935-2024), Chiang Chao-Shen (1925-1996), and Wu Hsueh-Jang (1923-2013). Liao specializes in ink painting and calligraphy and has taught at Chaoyang University of Technology. His work has received numerous honors, including the Literary and Artistic Creation Award from the Ministry of Education, the Ink Painting Innovation Award from the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and awards from the Taipei City Fine Arts Exhibition. He has held both solo and group exhibitions throughout his career.
Pouring Shadows of Blossoms depicts a deep blue night sky created through layered ink washes. A full moon, partially veiled by drifting clouds, emits only a faint halo of light. In the lower left, the texture of rocky slopes is rendered through dry and wet brushwork with varied ink tones. The moon and the rocks appear diagonally opposed, as if gazing toward each other from the upper right to the lower left, suggesting a quiet moment of shared reflection. The composition is simple yet poetic, conveying the artist’s lingering affection and admiration for moments of beauty.
