Huang Teng-Hsuan (b. 1965, Shengang, Changhua County) holds a master’s degree in fine arts from National Taichung University of Education. She currently serves as Assistant Professor at Overseas Chinese University and curator of the university’s Art Center. Her work has been featured in major juried exhibitions, including the National Art Exhibition and the Dadun Fine Arts Exhibition. Working primarily in watercolor and oil, Huang builds on a realist technique foundation while incorporating collage elements to articulate a distinctive visual language. Her paintings often combine careful observation with decorative intricacy, resulting in richly layered compositions that reflect both precision and expressive intent.
In Dance of the Morning Song, the sparrow appears as a symbolic figure, representing the artist herself. The painting explores a mood of stillness and natural ease, inviting the viewer into a quiet moment of observation. Huang employs soft, expressive colors and flowing lines to create a composition that moves with a gentle rhythm. Her use of collage-like layering adds visual interest, while the interplay of light and shadow suggests an atmosphere of early morning serenity. The work reflects her continued interest in capturing the subtle energy found in everyday encounters with the natural world.
