Length:162 x Width:130 (cm)

Lin Chun-Hung (b. 1969, Taichung City) graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University. His work has been selected for several prominent juried exhibitions, including the National Civil Servants Art Exhibition, the Central Taiwan Art Exhibition, and the Huangxi Art Exhibition. He was also awarded an exemption from preliminary review for three years at the National Art Exhibition.
Sacred Light presents a forest scene in which beams of light pierce through dense treetops and descend into the shaded undergrowth. The light appears to nourish the landscape, illuminating a variety of plant life and evoking a sense of vitality throughout the forest floor. Drawing from the ecology of secondary forests, Lin developed the composition in multiple stages to build up depth and detail across the canvas. To articulate the layering of foliage and light, the artist applies gold leaf to highlight the forms of ferns and to distinguish foreground from background. Final touches include the use of gold pigment to depict shafts of light filtering through the canopy, along with flecks of gold dust to suggest a luminous haze. These materials and techniques enhance both the spatial composition and the visual unity of the work.
